X&Y Coordinates - Options
There
are several X&Y Coordinate systems available to day. The most up-to-date
and accurate X&Ys are Ordnance Survey's and Royal Mail's.
An X&Y that points to a specific delivery point (Address Point) is the
most accurate - within 1 meter accuracy for any specific address.
Whilst a postcode based X&Y system (Code Point) is accurate to within 100 meters of
an address.
Unfortunately - Ordnance Survey GB (OSGB) and Ordnance Survey Northern Ireland
(OSNI) use two different X&Y Coordinate systems and naturally the two X&Y systems aren't compatible
with one another! As you would expect, OSGB doesn't have X&Y data for Northern Ireland,
so the guys and girls at InfoLogic have
created a hybrid that mainly uses the very accurate Ordnance Survey GB
data but also includes Royal Mail's 100 meter data to address the otherwise
missing Northern Ireland X&Ys.

Hybrid Option - Ordnance Survey & Royal Mail: This National
(UK) hybrid file consists of
Ordnance Survey Great Britain (OSGB) Code Point data (product as described
below) PLUS we've added Royal Mail PostZon data (product as described
below)
to cover Northern Ireland thus completing the file so that it covers every UK
postcode (1.77 million). The file can also have 1 meter
accuracy grid references added as an optional extra. |

Royal Mail Postzon: National (UK) Code Point coverage;
accuracy is limited to full postcode; with an average accuracy to within 100
meters of any given delivery point / letter box. This is the single user
licence option. Please contact us for alternate licence options so that we may quote accordingly.

Ordnance Survey (OSGB) Code Point: Great Britain : A six and seven digit Grid Reference for every Postcode in Great Britain (GB) - 1.6 million postcodes. These six and seven figure OSGB Code Point references are by far the most accurate & comprehensive available. The references are roughly to the centre of 15 delivery points or buildings (more accurate than the Royal Mail system but missing Northern Ireland data. This file can be enriched with Address Point data which is another OSGB product which takes the accuracy to within 1 meter of a buildings front door (delivery point) - this Address Point file is however a premium product. >>Request a Quote<< >>Purchase<< |
